Kingdom of Isles
Year's Dawning
One of the few Holidays still celebrated in the Kingdom of Isles from Pre- magiclysm times, Year’s Dawning is mainly the celebration of the beginning of a new calendar year through parties big and small, horse, boat or dog racing (depending on the city) and the exchanging of baked goods from simple breads to sweet, savory or spicy pies.
Popular folklore holds that it is bad luck not to complete personal goals, business ventures or construction projects by Year’s Dawning.
In pre- magiclysm times, all of the various racially defined kingdoms, believed this was the day which the various Gods first breathed life in to their races first members.
Many Churches stay open for a full day and night in order to give blessings for the new year to all comers and to accept offerings in thanks for being created.
